Why doesn’t the signature appear on my PDF?
In some cases, the electronic signature may not appear directly on a PDF file, even though the document was successfully sent and signed by the client.
In this situation, the signature is still properly recorded in Psylio. The signature certificate remains visible and valid in the practitioner’s account—only the visual display of the signature in the PDF is affected.
When might the signature not appear?
Certain characteristics of a PDF file may prevent Psylio from displaying the signature within the document.
- Password-protected PDFs
Secured or password-protected PDF files do not allow the signature to be added directly to the document. - PDFs created using certain tools
Some PDF creation tools produce files with an internal structure that prevents the signature from being automatically added.
How can you avoid this issue?
Here are a few solutions you can try:
- Export the document again using a different tool to generate a compatible PDF (see below)
- Remove the password protection, if you have permission to do so
Recommended tools for creating compatible PDFs
The following tools have been tested and support adding electronic signatures to PDFs:
- Microsoft Word
- Google Docs
Other tools may also work, even if they have not yet been tested by our team.
